Dr. John Tessier, M.D. of Signature Medical Group provides surgical services to earthquake victims in Haiti

In January 2010, Dr. John Tessier returned from his annual Orthopaedic Surgery trip to the island of the Dominican Republic/Haiti. Dr. Tessier and the Team of Operating Room Nurses, Surgical Technicians, Anesthesiologists and Peace Corps translators arrived the day following the 7.0 earthquake that rocked Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Fortunately, Dr. Tessier’s Team, which is part of Creighton University’s Institute for Latin American Concern (ILAC) had the proper fracture instrumentation and surgical supplies needed to dispatch an Orthopaedic Trauma Team to Jimani, Dominican Republic, 30 kilometers from the epicenter on the Haitian border. At this location, they were able to provide medical/surgical care to the Haitian earthquake victims. For more information/photos/donation opportunities, please see the complete story of Dr. Tessier’s Mission involvement.
